Tiga - “What You Need” (Music video above, Steve Aoki Remix below)
» I wish all music was made by Tiga. He’s insane, innovate, improper, irate, implosive, etc etc words that starts with i, and that’s why he’s perfect.
This song is not necessarily my favorite Tiga songs, as nothing will ever compare to “Beep Beep Beep” or my personally-ranked #1 song of 2009: “Shoes”, but this remix of “What You Need” really hit the spot.
There’s a few great ones out there, but this one from everyone’s favorite aznipster cobrasnake bffl Steve Aoki: Tiga - What You Need (Steve Aoki Remix) by Cybernetic

Uffie - “Illusion of Love” (the REAL version, not the BBC Radio 1 Rip!!)
» Man have I been eagerly awaiting this day. Sounds so good in its final format… definitely slow tempo for Uffie but as it should be, and could prove very remix-worthy.
“Illusion of loooooove, it’s better than noooooone….”

Dan Black - “Ecstasy”
» Summer is basically here, and while this song reminds me more of late Summer than today’s technically late Spring days, its one that will surely be part of my summer repertoire. while it’s not my favorite song from Dan Black’s debut album UN, as that title easily goes to “Pump My Pumps”, it’s another great effort from this emerging alterna-dance-pop Brit.
Slower than some of his other tracks, this one feels like gliding along a long local road with the sunroof down, or hanging by the pool with friends for a late afternoon siesta before the nighttime party vibe kicks in. And as Dan Black sings either in reference to the actual drug or just a chill ecstasy-like feeling, ”I want that hot breath of life in me”.

Lady GaGa - “Alejandro” (Skrillex Club Remix)
// One word: SKRILLEX.
The Los Angeles-based DJ totally brought it on his amazing ‘Bad Romance’ remix back in October 2008, and now he’s back with a totally epic remix for the almighty anthem ‘Alejandro’. The original song is already pretty righteous, but this is definitely what party DJ’s everywhere should be bumpin’ when looking to throw down some summertime GaGa goodness.
This makes me desperate to be at a crazy party, hear this song come on, and go completely apeshit (strobe light up neon glasses preferably included).
Also, no matter how good or eh you think this remix is at first, WAIT UNTIL YOU GET TO ABOUT 1:55 in… and then, well, get excited.

Ocelot - Beating Hearts (Louis La Roche Remix)
» I’m gonna be honest, I know nothing of Ocelot. But who I keep hearing more and more about is Louis La Roche. he’s only 19 but he’s already making a quite a name for himself in the electronic/French pop world.
I was recommended him on last.fm several months ago, liked a little bit of what I heard, read a magazine article about him recently… and then last week GottaDanceDirty posted an interview with him, which included the above remix that I can’t get enough of.
It’s very dancey, very 80’s jive synth, and could definitely be a good towards-end-of-the-night banger.
Uffie - “ADD SUV” (feat. Pharrell)
» if you didn’t know this track was first up, then you probably don’t know me, which is fine because the internet is a fairly large place. but you should know of my obsession for the sexy electronic pre-ke$ha trashy hot MC/rapper that is Uffie.
for so many years we’ve been waiting for Uffie to drop an actual album via her famous french record label Ed Banger, and that time is finally happening now. her album “Sex Dreams and Denim Jeans” drops at the end of May in the UK, early June in the US, and is receiving some good promotion thanks to this hot collabo with rap superstar Pharrell.
this is definitely Uffie at her lyrical best, an area where she usually lacks creativity and instead sticks with bitchy egotistical awesomeness. but she definitely transcends that here. I’ll be playing this track all summer long and hope that you’ll be doing the same.

oh oh oh, well if it isn’t my good friend summer making his way back from his other-hemispheric duties.
so since summertime is nearly here and my days of papers and finals are temporarily done, I’ve decided that I’d like to start taking the time again to share my musical musings and findings with you. I’m not asking for anything in return, just looking to provide yet another mp3-blog-resource by which to stay musically informed.
in terms of postings, expect electronic gems, indie favorites, house anthems, and the occasional cultural pun.
in terms of influences, expect a range from kickin the peanuts to gottadancedirty to Midnight Mauradio to Et Musique Pour Tous.
enjoy at your own leisure. and happy summer 2010.
with love, josé
